Mr. Forsman has been a management consultant since 1990 with a specialization in the application of sophisticated quantitative modeling to industry problems. With Altos Management Partners, Mr. Forsman leads the Electric Power Practice. Altos’ Electric Power Practice is centered on Altos’ North American Regional Electric Model (NARE). NARE is built in MarketPoint™, a software system for building complex quantitative economic models based on market fundamentals. NARE is the industry’s most comprehensive economic model of the North American electric market, encompassing all aspects of the markets in unparalleled detail, with particular focus on load, generation, transmission, and fuel. Mr. Forsman is the chief architect of NARE and thereby an expert in both the structure of the markets and the data sources required of a model with the breadth and depth of NARE. Mr. Forsman has applied or managed the application of NARE for most of the major players in the North American electric market. Mr. Forsman has assembled and managed teams of client, consultant, and third party staff to budget, schedule, and bottom line. Altos and NARE assist our clients in decision focused projects involving market entry via development, investment, trading, hedging, acquisition, risk management, disaster preparation, and/or financing.
Outside the energy industry, Mr. Forsman’s experience spans a variety of areas, including decision support system development, business simulation and forecasting, applied optimization, and software system design, architecture, and development. Mr. Forsman began his career as a software engineer of scientific applications where developed and honed the pure technical skills necessary to design, develop, deploy, and apply state-of-the-art quantitative modeling. In the Transportation Industry, Mr. Forsman designed and developed both the models and attendant software of revenue management systems for Hertz Rent-A-Car, Sea-Land Services, and Resort Condominiums International, specializing in complex demand forecasting. Working independently, Mr. Forsman designed a next-generation forecasting system for a leading software and services firm in airline revenue management. With Onward Inc., a consulting company in Mountain View Ca., Mr. Forsman designed CallSim, the call center industry’s first simulation product, used for call center management, analysis, and optimization. CallSim™ and its descendants have been deployed in dozens of call centers since its introduction in 1996. Also with Onward and independently, Mr. Forsman applied configuration technology in customer facing sales force automation applications and back end manufacturing systems. Finally, Mr. Forsman is an expert in the automation of Microsoft Office to solve practical business problems. Mr. Forsman has designed, develop, and deployed several targeted Microsoft Office applications that provide dramatic efficiency increases, while eliminating errors and enabling analysis.
Ted holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University, where he graduated With Distinction (1983), and a Master of Science degree in Operations Research from Stanford University (1990).
